Microfilm & Microfiche
Microfilm and Microfiche based imaging provides the most cost effective and most reliable long-term storage media.
The rate at which technology changes can be overwhelming. There are hundreds of proprietary and non-proprietary storage media available to us for the purpose of archiving and accessing records. The average retention period for corporate records is 7 years, and over that time your organization is likely to have switched storage media – at least once. In order to ensure the permanency of your records, they may need to be converted to an easily storable form. This is why many organizations continue to utilize microfilm as a true archival media format.
Microfiche and microfilm represent an "insurance policy" against corrupt media and obsolete systems. Film is human readable, so in a disaster situation, you will always be able to view or restore your company's records. Film guarantees the fidelity of your images and is not impacted by changes in technology. Your records are as viewable in 20 or 30 years as they are today. At a cost of tenths of a cent-per-page, film based imaging represents the single most cost effective media available for long-term storage. We recommend film as the safest bet against future loss of information.
